Pandemic Action Network (PAN) stands with the World Health Organisation (WHO) today. In a world of increasing epidemic and pandemic threats, worsened by the impact of climate change, the WHO’s mission to keep the world safe from disease threats is more important than ever. The WHO’s technical expertise and on-the-ground capacities have been core to detecting and effectively responding to recent health emergencies, including mpox and Marburg. An effective and well-resourced WHO is critically important for both American and global health and economic security. The health security of Americans will be compromised without an active, constructive U.S. voice within the WHO, as will the lives and livelihoods of the most vulnerable around the world. PAN calls on the U.S. to keep the door open to WHO engagement, and PAN also calls on governments across the world to stand with the WHO, deliver the resources needed to deliver a strengthened organization, and work together to deliver an effective pandemic agreement.
